Violations of house rules, positive drug tests, or disruptive behavior may result in discharge.
Malvern House is certified by the North Carolina Association of Recovery Residences (NCARR), the state affiliate of the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR). NCARR certification ensures we meet rigorous standards for safe, habitable living conditions, written policies and documented resident rights, ethical and non-coercive operations, staff and operator training, and ongoing compliance and monitoring. NCARR-certified homes are publicly listed in the NCARR directory and subject to regular recertification.
We serve men throughout Buncombe County, including Asheville, West Asheville, Black Mountain, Weaverville, Swannanoa, Candler, Woodfin, and Fairview.

Requirements: a commitment to sobriety, a valid ID, the admission fee and first week’s rent at move-in, willingness to follow house rules and participate in the community, and a 90-day minimum commitment. We do not require insurance, but we do require that you can pay weekly rent and meet house expectations.
Malvern House is a peer-supported sober living home, not a licensed treatment facility. We do not provide clinical services, counseling, medication management, or medical care. Residents are responsible for their own recovery plan, including participation in 12-step programs, therapy, or outpatient treatment as they choose.
